With the communication technology constantly updating and the rising demands, the deployment of4G communication-network has been in the implementation phase now. A good4G communication-network needs a good base station to maintain. So as an integral part of signal transmitting and receiving of the base station, base station antenna, whose technical indicators will directly affect the communication quality of the entire communication-network. Apparently, the study of designing high standard4G base station antenna, which could achieve the required bandwidth, gain, isolation, and polarization of standard4G indicators, has made a very important step forward for the achievement of a new generation of4G communication. In order to achieve a smooth upgrade and transition on the basic of the existing3G network equipment, we need an antenna who can not only work in the existing3G spectrum, but also meets the requirements of the development of4G communication. This article has designed two different base station antenna radiation units which is designed with a microstrip patch. With the using of electromagnetic simulation software HFSS, I do full really get the best antenna size. The first antenna radiating elements are traditional3G radiating ones, which are compatible with3G bands, so that make a stability of the transition from3G to4G. It has1.8GHz-2.28GHz bands, standing VSWR≤1.5,which is the features of the nowly existing3G. The second antenna elements are4G base station antenna unit. It has2.5GHz-2.69GHz bands. Also the VSWR≤1.5.Firstly, using both units simulate two-element antenna of different bands. Then I got the ideal gain and pattern. After that, using two oscillator units simulation of a four-unit mixed linear array and six-unit mixed linear array, the simulation results show that the unit input port isolation can be maintained at less than-20dB pattern. Horizontal beamwidth is about60°, the gain reaches19dBi.Ultimately,we got an array base station antenna which encounters smooth transition from3G to4G, and also has some reference and usage value to the implementing and the to be implemented4G network construction. In that we could make rational use of resources.
