Android operating system announced by Google in2007is a Linux-based open source mobile operating system. After that, more and more people began to pay attention to and joined in the Android development camp due to the rapid development of Android technology and the strong support of the manufacturers and operators. In the first quarter of2011, Android’s market share around the world outnumbered Saipan system’s and ranked first in the world for the first time. Data show that in November2012, Android accounted for76%of the global smart phone operating system market share,90%market share in China.Being a program behind graphics, Android APP Widget application is a view of components to achieve a specific function. Android APP Widget can be embedded into other applications (such as the desktop) and receive periodic updates. Becoming more humane and artistic charm, Widget can provide more elegant artistic experience in lightweight perspective. Providing information services through the Widget on the desktop had become a kind of business trends.This dissertation studies the design of the desktop dynamically Gallery APP Widget. The necessary analysis is first conducted to determine the requirements of the software, based on which the Widget framework of the software is constructed, including the desktop layout design, Widget lifecycle approach, registering receiver in the Manifest file and the timer design. After that, the overall Widget framework can be fully set.After the construction of the Widget framework structures, the implementation process of the desktop dynamically Gallery APP Widget is discussed carefully. The program to search pictures in the SD card of the device and then load it into the Widget is designed. By combining with the timer, the pictures can be repeatedly. The processs on the picture, such as adding a photo frame, rotating and superimposing pictures, and displaying the directory of the picture is designed. The process on some special events, such as response to mouse, keyboard and pictures being deleted, are also discussed.
