Network convergence has become the development trend of next-generation network, which is generally agreed by the communication circles. With the advantage complementary characteristics, many organizations and scholars pay more attention to the integration of3G and WLAN. In this dissertation, we mainly focus on two key technical issues:This paper focuses on the handoff issue of multipath-transmission of single traffic due to the mobility of user in3G-WLAN converged networks. Firstly, we introduce the demands and advantages of multipath transmission, pointing out the necessity of multipath transmission. On this basis, we elicit the multipath transmission handoff problem and analyze its effects and the existing handoff techniques, pointing out that the fast handoff scheme is one of the critical factors to guarantee the service quality of mobile subscribers. Secondly, we propose a fast handoff scheme based on multipath transmission of single traffic, considering the mobility support ability of different networks and the process priority of different traffic. Finally, simulation results show that the scheme is better than the traditional handoff scheme, the scheme reduces the handoff delay and guarantees QoS requirement during the handoff procedure and improves the utilization of network resource. This paper focuses on the network selection issue in3G-WLAN converged network. Firstly, we illustrate the current situation of the increasingly shortage of3G resource and analyze the reason why WLAN unable to guarantee the QoS requirement of subscribers. Secondly, we deeply analyze the existing network selection algorithms to achieve the depth-integration of3G-WLAN. Then, we propose a network selection scheme based on QoS guarantee, considering the user location and type of service. Finally, simulation results show that the scheme saves users’power consumption in3G network, then achieves the green energy-saving performance, on the premise of ensuring subscribers’ QoS requirements.
