Under the impetus of new technologies and market demand, future wireless communicationnetworks will be a all-IP converged network with complementary coexistence of multiple wirelessaccess technologies and supporting seamless mobility. Facing the trend of today’s mobile datatraffic surge, a new generation of mobile access technology LTE still can not cope alone, WLANwith its low-cost, high-bandwidth, high-end penetration, good hotspot features becomes the bestsupplement technology for LTE. Integration of both contributes to improving user’s serviceexperience. Meanwhile, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) proposed by3GPP is independent of theaccess technology which can provide a variety of services in LTE/WLAN convergence network.IMS is considered to be the core technology of the next generation network convergence. Therefore, the integration realization of LTE and WLAN based on IMS not only meets the market demand, butalso accumulates valuable experience for the study of Next-Generation converged networks basedon IMS.In this paper, on scene of LTE/WLAN heterogeneous integration, the network discovery andselection, seamlessly streaming, IMS-based vertical handover among heterogeneous networks aswell as policy control are studied. The paper begins with network convergence architecture and key issues involved in networkconvergence, including network discovery and selection, seamless streaming, vertical handovertechnology and policy control. Then, ANDSF-based LTE/WLAN convergence network switchmodel is proposed. Through the analysis of streaming mechanism, the idea of routing data trafficdiversion according to service characteristics is proposed. Design seamlessly streaming scenes, andgive the switch processes between LTE/WLAN convergence networks. Then, under the foundationof bearing integration and existing mobility solutions research, and combining the characteristics ofIMS system, mobility awareness for IMS session seamless handover solution is presented. Solutionperformance is tested and analysed which verifies the effectiveness of the solution. Finally, effectivecombination of PCC and QoS mechanisms can ensure the QoS of end-to-end services inLTE/WLAN convergence network. Based on the open source stack of UCF PCF, PCRF module isrealized. Part function of the module is verified, and its communication interaction meets therelevant3GPP specifications.
