In this paper,we examine the performance of multi-path transport in real-world Internet setups,based on Multi-Path TCP(MPTCP)in the NorNet testbed for multi-homed systems.However,systems in such challenging setups need proper configuration.We redefine the meaning of network gain benefit(B),particularly would like to highlight the performance impact of different path management and congestion control algorithms and the performance of the path itself,the impact of IPv4/IPv6 technology on network communication in such realistic scenarios.Then according to the test results,use the perspective of network gain benefit(B)to select the best path.As a general recommendation,we have shown that:1.When using multipath transmission,the performance of the initial path affects the throughput of the transmission.2.Path management algorithm has great influence on the network performance of multi-path transmission.3.The difference of congestion control algorithm has an effect on the performance of multi-path transmission network.4.IPv6 technology under the multi-path transmission is obviously limited by the bandwidth of local network providers.In summary,in order to select the best path for communication,this paper make the following recommendations based on the analysis of experimental results:1.Users can not join the new sub-stream unlimited,the new sub-road performance should be analyzed,when the subflow performance is better,to meet B greater than 0,then the sub-flow can be joined in the multi-path transmission.For subflows with a B value equal to or even less than 0,it should be treated as a spare subflow.2.In view of the current only four kinds of path management algorithms,so according to the experimental results analysis,when setting the path management algorithm,select"fullmesh" can obtain higher network throughput.3.Based on the analysis of the congestion control algorithm,this paper recommends the use of Cubic congestion control algorithm,because it is more flexible,the sub-flow congestion window control more comfortable.When the fairness requirements are high,it is recommended to use OLIA algorithm.4.After the above analysis,the paper recommends the use of IPv6 technology.In this.paper,we summarize the experimental analysis,then get the law of how to select the best path in the MPTCP multi-path transmission.
