With the rapid development of electronic information technology, the size of electronic components is getting smaller and smaller, the integration density and the operating frequency of chips are improved continuously, which lead to that the modern computers are high-power and high heat density. The air conditioning and refrigerating system for high-performance computer is key component of environment control of computer room; the reliability, stability and energy saving property of this system are also increasing attention.According to the needs of all-weather temperature control of high-performance computer, the article designs and researches a cooling system for high-performance computer. We introduce the development and the design basis of air conditioning for computer. It also researches the user’s application environment, technology needs, the structural characteristics and heat load condition of the application object; all these provide a basis for the design and optimization of air conditioning system. From a practical requirement of the overall design, combined with the widely used design at home and abroad, the passage proposes an airflow plan, which sent out cold wind with level air in the closed cabinet, and simulates the airflow field in the closed cabinet with ANSYS. According to the characteristics of the design, we make a plan which uses three refrigeration compressors ("two of them are commonly used, the other one is alternate", taking turns running). On the basis of the sufficient calculation for various parameters, scientifically selection for compressors, and we identify the design size and structure of the evaporator and the condenser.It is proved that this design is especially suitable for the needs of all-weather temperature control of a high-performance computer; it also can achieve high reliability, high stability, energy savings and operational cost savings.
