Automatic steel pipe groups production machine is an indispensable equipment manufacturers, by means of modern control and detection,to achieve production of steel pipes automation group,greatly improve production efficiency and product quality. This topic originated from CNOOC" research and development of marine engineering and efficient system production lines " project which is a sub-task steel pipes automatic group machine,the device is of significance on solving the current technical problems of steel production and level of automated welding pipe production.At this stage, the domestic technical equipment of steel manufacturers compared to the foreign which is relatively backward,steel are rolled out products that are relatively short, to get a long pipe that the workers weld some short pipes by hand. External pressure steel pipe group machine designs and manufacts for the actual needs of the steel pipe production work,it is a set of fast group steel and fully automated equipment,design and research of the equipment which is filled the domestic blank in this field.This paper set an external pressure steel pipe machine based on analyzing clamp that related technology application and development at home and abroad,according to the actual requirements of external pressure steel pipe group machine designed structure and control system in detail.The paper designed that it according to CNOOC subsidiary steel pipe manufacturer requirements, designed the overall of the machine combination of reasonable functional requirements and structural requirements, introduced feeding, preheating, the material and other major institutions. The paper established the overall coordinate system of automatic steel pipes group machine and the coordinate system of all moving parts, and carried out the conversion between the coordinate systems. The encoder data were converted that is the main way to achieve the coordinate system. Linearity is the core issue of steel group. To solve this problem,rhe paper presents a virtual cylindrical space algorithm, and described its principles and calculation methods.
