Chamfering machine is the special equipment for pipe-end processing,which function isto flat and chamfer the steel-end and the inside and outside surfaces. The research &development on automatic steel pipe chamfering machine, which is suitable for large-diameter,high-grade steel, thick-walled steel pipe, filled the domestic blank and enhanced theprocessing techniques of the steel pipe-end .One of the motion control technique, which isextremely critical, determined the steel pipe chamfering degree of automation ,accuracy andquality of processing, ect. At present, the unit, which can independently develop and producethe steel pipe chamfering processing equipment, is rather little. The existing equipment canonly meet the chamfering processing needs of small -diameter steel pipe. But it can notrealize the processing of the large-diameter & thick-diameter steel pipe. Therefor, it isextremely important to research the movement pattern and control system of chamferingmachine.In this paper, the work principle of automatic steel pipe chamfering machine wasintroduced totally. The part of of spindle rotation of chamfering mainframe, the systemfeeding section and other accessories of chamfering system were also analyzed elaboratelyand so the control program of chamfering system was proposed. By choosing S7-300 andspecial functions of the servo positioning module FM354 as main controller, whichrespectively finish the motion control on the spindle rotation, the feed system, feedingmechanism and other auxiliary equipments. By choosing configuration software WinCCintegrated with STEP7 as the operating system of automatic steel pipe chamfering machine,which simulated the chamfering and finished parameter setting , real-time monitoring, faultalarming, etc. Based on field bus technology, by choosing the distributed control, thecommunication of PLC with IPC and PLC with FM354 was realized and IPC and PLC couldcollect and transmit field sigal.Proved through practice, the control scheme basically realized automatic process of steelpipe chamfering, not only improving the system stability, precision and quality, and enhancingthe production efficiency of chamfering equipment for enterprises. In addition, the processedsteel pipe could meet the domestic and international standards, so that the domestic steelenterprises increased the international market competitiveness.
