With the development of remote sensing technology and computer technology, remote sensing plays a more and more important role in many industries. But, the improvement of remote sensing imageries’resolution brings a huge pressure to the storage and visualization; the diversity of remote sensing imagery metadata model makes the aggregation, retrieval and view of the metadata more difficult. In order to solve these problems, this article presents "DartEarth:A Retrieval and3D visualization Engine for Remote Sensing Imageries". Its goal is to implement an integrated solution for the aggregation, retrieval and view of the metadata, the deployment of WMS (Web Map Service) and the3D visualization of the remote sensing imageries.This article uses remote sensing imageries’alias information to solve the problem of heterogeneous metadata’s aggregation. It is the foundation of metadata’s retrieval. This article uses JSON to express metadata, uses MongoDB to store metadata. This article uses distributed file system, load balancing technology and double cache to deploy a large-scale WMS server cluster. And, in this article, an algorithm based on the pyramid tile structure model is derived to cut remote sensing images.
