EPON technology aimed at increasing Internet bandwidth requirements to solvethe bottlenecks of traditional access network in the entire network. Development ofbroadband access network is an important basic conditions of modern cityinformation technology, China Telecom Shanghai Branch dedicated to the EPONnetwork specifications to develop technical standards since2008, with the matures ofEPON technology and the improvement of standards, EPON is bound to be largescale used in urban and rural communications. However, with the high-speedbandwidth services to meet the current demand for access, as the technicalcharacteristics point to multipoint of EPON network and the carry out of triple playservices (VoIP, high-speed Internet, IPTV), many new challenges is being brought tothe management of EPON network. How to find a suitable network construction andnetwork management model for Chinese operators is a new subject for the futuredevelopment of access network and also has practical significance.This article described the application of EPON in the user access network,analyzed the current status of access network, summarized the business applicationmodel, introduces EPON of access network, network planning and network designunder the premise of Shanghai Telecom "business can be distinguished, the networkcan be managed".For EPON optical network operation and maintenance management, this thesismainly studied EPON integrated operation support system in the operationmanagement application, it is a unified information management platform based onthe EPON network element management system, shielding differences between thenetwork element management system provided by various manufacturers, providingmanagers with a unified management environment to to solve the informationexchange between the underlying network element data and the maintenancemanagement system, to achieve integration of information sharing and theimplementation of precision maintenance and management. For the goal of "user identification, service can be distinguished, quality control, network can be managed",it is important to build up intelligent systems, control and manage network resources,network operations support system with the technical means to enhance the level ofmaintenance, improved management practices. This thesis focuses on EPONintegrated operations support systems functions, analyzes the actual operation of thesystem, along with a direction of further improvement.
