From the beginning of the21st century, China’s economy to achieve rapid growth, thescale of the expansion of the domestic iron and steel enterprises also the whole economicsituation, but the outbreak of the global financial crisis in2008, the economic situationfaced by the domestic iron and steel enterprises worsened, and widespread overcapacity,oversupply problem. In view of the above, many steel companies began to pay attention toprocurement management, in particular, is a huge amount of spare parts procurement, theprocurement of spare parts business activities accounted for40%of all procurementoperations. Then, based on a full investigation of the purchasingdepartment of a steel enterprise, the focus from the planned reporting, purchasing patterns,and supplier management research and analysis of the existing problems in theprocurement of spare parts of the enterprise business.Secondly, on this basis, the paper proposed steel spare parts procurement and suppliermanagement improvement strategies, through the establishment of the e-commerceplatform, using a state-of-the-art tools and management philosophy specification spareparts supply chain management processes, improve the procurement of spare parts system.Again, the paper focuses on the description the spare parts supply chain e-commerceplatform for the status quo and the common features of the steel industry in the iron andsteel enterprises, system design, system implementation, system testing process on how togradually establish a set spare parts supply chain management system.Finally, the implementation of the same over the e-commerce platform in the iron andsteel enterprises, has made no small achievement to get the full recognition and a higherrating, saving a lot of procurement costs while improving the competitiveness ofenterprises, as bring enormous economic benefits.
