The advancement of science and technology has promoted the rapid developmentof robot technology. The teaching-box, as an important part of teaching-playbackrobot system, has developed from a simple tool with a single function like commandinput and code display to be a relatively independent system with various functionsincluding teaching, programming, testing, maintenance, file management, systemsettings and pose display, playing a significant role in the entire system. In this paper,a new set of teaching device is developed for industrial robot and some of keytechnologies are researched. The main research contents and outcomes are listed asfollows:(1) Design of the overall structure of the teaching-boxBased on the analysis of the overall structure and the basic functions of theteaching system, hardware platform of the teaching-box is established. Comparingseveral kinds of common embedded microprocessors, the thesis puts forward aresearch scheme of developing a teaching-box based on an embedded computer, andmakes a choice of the mode of display, command input and communication.(2) Design of keyboard hardware and achievement of software featuresBased on the analysis of key function, the chip used for designing the keyboardis selected and the overall layout of the keyboard is made, meanwhile, circuit designand test on accuracy and stability is made. Keyboard function is redefined through theevent mechanism, and solutions to the problems encountered in the process ofsoftware development are proposed.(3) Design of interface and method of file management and organizationFriendly and succinct graphical user interface is developed through Qt, and thepaper discusses the functions of every interface. The user is able to make the relatedoperation of teaching files in the way like Windows menu. Registry programmingmethod is adopted for solving the problem of saving and reading data when theapplication is shut down and started. A new method of file management andorganization, which can save program files and data files separately, is proposed.(4) Design of serial communicationThe thesis describes the overall process of communication, designs the communication protocol, makes a classification of communication data, andimplements serial communication in the form of modular design through dynamiclink library. In the end, communication process between teaching-box and industrialpersonal computer is discussed and the two-way communication is achieved throughonline debugging.
