Web2.0technology and citizens’ increasing awareness of democracy and participation hasbrought the user generated content which is published online to boom. That the citizen group islarge and their resources are rather rich makes UGC production and dissemination present thestate of the whole people’s participation. In face of sudden and public crisis events, UGC’sperformance makes the professional media organizations begin to incorporate the precious newsresources into the process of conventional news production and transmission.Foreign traditional media, especially television media, developed a systematic way ofapplying UGC. From filtering its content to strengthening news control and to overcomingcopyright conflict, every link fell on feet. These practices become experience worthy of drawingon for our country. The American CNN iReport column presents a series of unique measures ofthe application of UGC, which has important implications to the UGC application practice of TVmedia in China.Based on the above, with case study and simple analysis method, this paper analyzes how theinternet posting which represents UGC is used in TV news programs, according to CCTV newschannel’s three reporting videos about the “room elder sister” event. And then, in basis ofsurveying the performance of CCTV news reporting all-sidedly, this thesis sums up the presentsituation and characteristic of TV media’s UGC application in our country.Finally, based on the analysis of the present situation of China’s TV media applying to UGC,this paper summarizes five problems about TV media’s UGC application in China withcomparative analysis method adopted. Then, taking the experience of the American CNN forreference and combining the background of open news theory’s development, this thesis advancessome corresponding suggestions in order to promote interaction and continuous development ofour country’s television and network in the whole media era.
