The author applies “Target Management” method on the teaching of the optionaltennis courses of Wenzheng College of Soochow University, finds a more active,systematic and scientific teaching method to teach tennis courses, and provides somesuggestion and reference to high-education tennis teaching.The author uses four research methods: literature review, experiment, questionnaire,and mathematic statistics.This study has the following findings:At first, comparing with the traditionalteaching method, the target management teaching method which consists with thefundamental requirements of modern teaching theory is more effective. Secondly, theteaching experiment proves that the students in experimental class have betterperformance than those in control class in spiking motion, controlling tennis skills,tennis skill evaluation, and tennis theoretic achievements. Thirdly, applying targetmanagement teaching method on tennis teaching in fulltime regular college encouragesstudents to reach the expected goals together, strengthens their friendly relationship,improves their involvement in tennis teaching activities, gives them moreself-confidence, and increases their interest, positivity and initiative in sports learning.Fourthly, it also increases students’ motivation to pursue success and avoid failure. Thatis to say, no matter they are successful or fail in study, students are always optimistic.As a result, the quality of tennis teaching is improved. Last but not least, by setting,implementing, and assessing targets in teaching, target management teaching methodcan effectively improve students’learning effects and help them to understand what theyhave learned.
