The distinctive feature of the new curriculum reform is modularization of curriculum structure. High school physics courses are divided into two types:compulsory courses and optional courses. The compulsory module is the basis and core of Physical Sciences, while the optional module is the supplement and extension of compulsory module. Physical courses not only help to cultivate students’interest and talents, but also provide a good platform for students to develop character. Carrying out optional courses affects the progress and results of curriculum reform directly. Based on the former opinions, I want to do a research of selecting and using of physical optional courses, and get the actual situation. With information on the internet and teachers’feedbacks, I hope to summarize deficiency which exists in selection of optional courses and Curriculum module settings. I also hope to find out the reasons of these problems and discuss the countermeasures to solve the problem and put forward constructive suggestions for new curriculum’s carrying out.Based on the purpose above, the following issues will be discussed concretely:(1) teachers’ perceptions of elective curriculum(2) situation of using of the general Senior Secondary schools’physics elective courses(3) situation of guidance for selection of courses in general Senior Secondary schoolsSchools need clear understanding of curriculum reform, set reasonable elective courses and establish appropriate elective system, thus dominant position of students can be ensured and implementing of new curriculum helps to promote the development of education reform. Therefore, this study mainly aims at ordinary high school. In this paper I have done theoretical study with literature review and discussed features of module curriculum, thus laying a theoretical foundation. Besides I have carried out a survey with20teachers from different districts and different schools in the form of questionnaire survey. In this way I get the specific situation and find out the problems existing in selecting of elective courses.The conclusions of this study are:(1) Most teachers regard ordinary high school physics course mode as a formalization concept.(2) Selection of physics elective courses is restricted in college entrance examination(3) Guidance of selecting elective courses still needs improvementThe suggestions:reform the college entrance examination system, build up an open environment for selecting courses, enhance the guidance of students’ course selection, and stick to course guidelines discipline.
