“The other”theory was a very important thought in1960s, which indicate a socialreality: heterology matter was excluded, oppressed and resisted by mainstream value andculture. As the thoughts o“fequality”“respect”,“tolerance” and “diversity” are valuedin society, more and more researchers focus on “the other” theory, involving in manyhumanities such as literature, philosophy, sociology, theology, anthropology and aesthetics.Obviously,“the other” theory has important implication on education. Moderneducation is producting “the other” by standardized examination system, homogeneousteaching materials and normalized tuition. These manufactured “the other” are not ingood living status and ascribed to be “failed person” by themselves. The significance of“the other” theory to education is surveying the production mechanism of “the other”during the process of teaching and exploring the meaning of “the other” to perfect oureducation and then more clearly understanding the deficiency of modern teachingeducation. Caring “the other” is a education mission. It is required that we must providediversified education for students to suit their growth, other than a culture under whichstudents desperately compete to be others.“The other” theory makes educators seriouslyregarding students as an independent individual with their own value.
