The main purpose of English course in the compulsory education stage is to lay thefoundation for the development of students’ comprehensive ability of using the language, andcreate favorable conditions for their keeping learning English and future development. Incompulsory education stage, English curriculum should face all students, and embody thethought of the student as the main body. In the process of English learning, the students arethe subjects of learning. For the newcomers of the junior students, they learn English withhigh enthusiasm, strong curiosity, also they can get good grades, and the differentperformance is not big. But the second year or the third year, with the increasing in contentand deepening in difficulties. Some students continue to maintain excellent grades. And somestudents’ grades decline step by step. The excellent students are getting better, and the poorstudents are getting worse, they are form the polarization of English learning. The polarizationaffects the implementation of English Curriculum of compulsory education severely; it is notgood for improving English learning and the quality of teaching roundly. The related researchat home and abroad, they are basically the reason research of learning polarization and putforward the corresponding countermeasures of middle school students, it is only thetheoretical significance, but has not been verified by the actual operation, and lacks thepractical significance. This topic will formulate the corresponding measures through theinvestigation and analysis the learning polarization reasons of middle school students’ Englishlearning, and reduce the polarization phenomenon through the implementation ofcountermeasures, and sum up a set of feasible reduction methods and strategies ofpolarization. In order to improve the students’ English teaching interests, initiation, graduallyimprove English learning and teaching quality.In the process of writing this thesis, many articles about the polarization have beencollected and analyzed through reading the literature related to the polarization of the middleschool students. In the course of English teaching, the reasons of the polarization formationhave been surveyed and analyzed in order to provide the materials of concreting evidence andcatalytical basis for figuring out the effective countermeasures of the polarization.The thesis includes five parts. The first part are the background and significance of theresearch, the propose of the research. The second part includes the definition of the polarization of middle school students, and introduces the research of the polarization of bothdomestic and foreign. The third part is the research design, includes the research question, theresearch object, the research methods, the research tools, sorting and statistical of the data.The fourth part includes the countermeasure and suggestions. Attempt to probe into themeasures and achievements to relief the polarization of middle school students’ Englishlearning. including the strengthening of parent-child communication, close the cooperationbetween home and school, the teachers and students emotion communication bridge, establishgood relationship between teachers and students, enhance the education idea, theimprovement of teaching strategies and methods, strengthen the students with Englishlearning difficulties learning strategy instruction, the cultivation of good learning habit. Thefifth part of this thesis is the conclusion, summarizes the full paper; it points out the value ofresearch and the future research prospects. It is believed that the slow students will finallybecome good students through the teacher’s guiding and instruction as well as their ownefforts.
