Recently, the influence of emotion on the cognitive activities begins to draw researchers’ attention. A positive teaching effect demands for the appropriate management of emotions. So, scholars develop the teaching mode based on emotion regulation. This model aims to direct and make use of the effect of students’main emotions on teaching activities through organizing and regulating students’ emotions, and provide the best emotional state for their study so as to arouse students’ learning initiative.Humanism-based teaching stresses that cognition is inseparable from emotion in the learners spiritual nature. Therefore, learners’ emotion should be kept an eye on, and teachers should adopt flexible strategies to stimulate learners’ initiative and learning desire. The emotion psychology holds that cognitive activities are urged by emotion. Positive emotion helps to coordinate, whereas negative emotion devastates, disintegrates and interferes with mental activities.This thesis investigates the feasibility and effectiveness of the teaching mode based on emotion regulation in the teaching of spoken English. The data collected by tests and questionnaires are analyzed through comparisons. After one-term experiment, the result indicates that the teaching of spoken English on the basis of emotion regulation not only brings every positive factor into play, but also arouses their interest and curiosity, helps them more pleasure, and regulates their anxieties.
