The subject of this paper originates from the secondary vocational English teachingpractice. The research is based on the project-based teaching theories and project-basedteaching researches both at home and abroad. The present research adopts a combination ofqualitative and quantitative reasearch method, with the first grade students specialized inautomobile marketing in Yantai Technician School as the object of the research. The purposeof this research is to demonstrate the feasibility, practicalicality and applicability of theproject-based English teaching in secondary vocational school.Firstly, the author analyzes the current situation of secondary vocational English teaching,points out the necessity of reform and puts forward the project-based teaching method.Secondly, the related concepts and research achievements of the project-based teachingmethod are intrudoced. Thirdly, with the combination of qualitative and quantitative reasearchmethod as the main method, the author conducts a more than four months project-basedEnglish teaching with the view to demonstrate the feasibility of the project-based Englishteaching in secondary vocational school.This research draws the following conclusions: the project-based teaching method couldintegrate English course and professional courses to improve English teaching effect insecondary vocational school. The project-based teaching method could give full play tostudents’ subject status to improve students’ learning motivation and interest, promote thestudents’ innovative, team spirit, research ability and practicical ability. The project-basedteaching method fully embodies the value of modern vocational education. Therefore, theapplication of project-based English teaching method in secondary vocational school isfeasible and effective.
