In2001the Ministry of Education proposed a new round of high schoolcurriculum reform program, in this reform have set up the curriculum system whichcombined the compulsory course and the elective courses. With the implementation ofthe new curriculum reform, high school history curriculum elective module graduallybecomes a hot topic.Based on the high school history courses, People’s Publishing House publishedin2009as the basis of high school history textbooks (referred to as "the people’sversion of" materials), this paper wanted to prominent the characteristics and realizethe value of the history elective courses through the selection of typical characteristicshigh school history compulsory course as the comparison of object. At the same time,by means of investigation to understand the specific problems in the implementationand put up with the targeted teaching suggestions for the sake of exert the function ofhistory courses. The research methods include the literature research, questionnairesurvey, interview method and analysis.This paper consists of introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction mainlyexplained the background, research status of the topic, research significance, thecontents and the methods.The text includes four parts: the first part is an overview of high school historyelective courses, briefly introduces its concept and settings; the second part is thecharacteristics of the high school history elective courses, comparing in fivedimensions like settings, goals, contents, methods and evaluations to analyze theinternal link and difference between the compulsory course and elective course; thethird part is the implementation situation of the investigation on the status of electivecourses in high school history research from the attitude of teachers, teaching methods,teaching evaluation and teaching effect etc, we can find out the problems and analyzeit; the forth part is to make recommendations for the effective implementation of thefeasibility of elective high school history curriculum, maximize the value of electivecourses in high school history. The conclusion is to reiterated the importance of high school history elective courses from the comparative and analysis in the text.
