With the gradual development of the Reform and Opening Up and theestablishment of the market economy system, Chinese economic development hasmade remarkable achievements in the world. The Process of Modernization, theReform and Opening Up and the market economy are developing constantly, and oursociety begins to appear a deep population differentiation, which has unavoidablyaffected the contemporary youth, especially the college students. The contemporarycollege students are the masters of Chinese future society, the reserve forces to build asocialist harmonious society, and the people who will make Chinese dream come true.Harmonious college campus requires the various groups of college students interactpositively and develop healthily. The fundamental purpose of education is to cultivatepeople, and the colleges and universities need to cultivate qualified builders andreliable successors for the socialist development. As for this purpose, they cannot justfocus their attention on the intellectual education and ignore the moral education, andmust seize the moral education which is the heart and soul of the quality collegeeducation. Although the current moral research involves the group differentiation, itpays more attention to the disadvantaged groups of the various students’ groups. Interms of other students’ groups, it pays little attention and seldom studies them as anorganic entity. Obviously, this is a relative weak chain in the college moral education.Based on the basic principles of Marxism, and guided by the educationalphilosophy of Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory,“Three Represents” andScientific Outlook on development, and combined with the relative knowledge of theIdeological and Political Education, sociology and psychology, and using theperspective of crossover study to select the group differentiation as a breakthroughpoint, and using the literature research method and information research method, thispaper analyzes and organizes relative materials, and clarifies the concept of collegestudents’ differentiation. Besides, combined with the interviews and questionnaires, this paper also investigates the current situation and influence of the college students’group differentiation. Among the institutions of higher education, college students’ group differentiation shows a gradual development trend. From the point of horizontaldifferentiation, college students’ differentiation shows distinctive groups; from theperspective of vertical differentiation, college students’ groups present differentstructures at different stages. On one hand, the influence of the group differentiationfor college students mainly manifests the positive influence for college individuals, interpersonal relations, and college tolerance; on the other hand, it shows passiveinfluence for the advantaged and disadvantaged groups and their relations.Through comprehensive analysis, this paper points out that from the perspectiveof group differentiation, the major problems of the college students’ moral educationare: college students’ values are eroded by the unhealthy social trends; the existingmoral teaching has limited influence on college students; comparatively there is a lackof moral activities in extracurricular activities; some college students has not paidsufficient attention to moral education. To sum up, there are four major reasons: First, society is the big environment for moral education, and the various passive influenceof social group differentiation is flooded in the college; there are a variety of values inthe contemporary life, which brings a problem for college moral education. Second, family is the harbor for students, and the family backgrounds and parents’ thinkingpatterns exert a subtle influence on students; if the students are instilled with improperideas, which will lead to the ignorance and confrontation for students’ moraleducation. Moreover, as the main position for students’ moral education, if collegesdo not pay attention to the targeted teaching of the moral education of various groups, and the variety of moral activities of extracurricular activities, the influence of moraleducation will be greatly weakened. And finally, the intellectual education determinesthe level of development, while the moral education determines the direction ofdevelopment. However, lots of students have a poor knowledge of moral educationand ignore the cultivation of moral quality, which puts the moral education in anawkward position. This paper indicates that: through rich campus activities to promote the exchangeand integration among groups, to guide the students’ self-confidence, independence, and self-reliance, and to believe the beneficial conversion between student groups, thus colleges can strengthen the positive impact of group differentiation for collegestudents. Colleges should purify the social environment, create a positive harmoniousatmosphere, pay attention to home education, guide students to find their properlocation, and restrain the passive influence of the vertical differentiation for collegestudents. In the end, colleges should strengthen the university management. Andthrough research, they can learn about all the students’ groups, be individualized, payattention to distinctive education, and carry out the targeted moral education for groupwork to promote healthy development and the beneficial transformation andintegration of various groups, to promote the harmonious campus construction, and topromote the realization of a harmonious society.
