In the light of the importance to develop students’ reading ability, as well as manyproblems raised in current reading teaching process like: the nature of reading is alienated bymisunderstanding of reading teaching guide ideology; only pay attention to read in class,ignore the significance of extracurricular reading; internet resources cannot be fully utilized.Etc. This thesis presents views of using internet techs to develop high school student readingability. In this paper the writer mainly covers the “student centered non directive teaching”theory brought by C.R.Rogers, the representative of the Learning Theory of HumanisticPsychology, also on the basis of the reader-oriented theory and constructivism. On researchmethod, the writer adopted documentary and case study method. Aimed at improving readingenvironment for high school students, developing reading interests and good reading habits,the writer expects to contribute a little to development of high school student reading ability.The thesis contains four parts, include literature reviews, necessity analysis andfeasibility study of using IT to develop high school student reading ability, teaching researchon developing high school student reading ability by IT, assessment and thoughts of using ITto develop high school student reading ability.Literature review analyses the method of developing high school student Chinesereading ability, the influence of IT utilize in current days education, giving evidences to theresearch. The application of IT makes up for the lack of the traditional teaching of reading. Itnot only provides a hypertext reading style, also expands a broader reading content forstudents. IT gives teacher a new way to present text, in order to lift up classroom atmosphereand bring the class vigor and vitality, then enhance students’ understanding of text.Diversified interaction and communication bridges the spread of knowledge and thoughts, so,the use of IT training high school students reading ability is feasible. The writer elaborates indetails about teaching research and case study by using IT to develop high school studentreading ability. In the paper, the writer gives her own assessment, thought and caution to theapplication of IT.
