Democracy, as a mode of social life, can bring out the rational quality and democratic wisdom of people. Thus, practicing this form of life is the best way to help people foster the democratic literacy. The class is one of the most basic places where students experience the individual life. Both the way and the quality that they experience in the class, have an enormous effect on the extent that they may participate the social life, the happiness that they can sense and the pattern that they communicate with others. Living in a democratic class, future citizen will evolve their democratic attainments such as rationalities and wits.In a view of politics and philosophy of education, it is the democracy that puts high value of the individual interest, shows respect to the individual freedom and emphasizes the equality among different individuals. Meanwhile, how to construct a life of education which presents these features as well as normal characteristic, is a crucial program in both theory and practice of education. In this paper, the first-hand information of the reality class life are gathered by interviewing with the teachers who are/were in charge of classes, and some typical cases are collected by means of literature research. The study shows that the teachers and students have succeeded in exploring a good many of ways to build a more democratic life within the class. However, non-democracy and anti-democratic phenomenon still exists, and behind some seemingly democratic forms of the class life, lies the misunderstanding and the misinterpretation of the real democracy. The causes of these problems and phenomenon not only came from the internal of education such as teacherss students and the schools, but also stemmed form the influence of famiã€society and traditional culture. According to the reasons above, this paper provided the idea of constructing the democratic class life as follows. Firstly, the philosophy of Justice ought to be interpenetrated to all aspects of class life. Secondly, the class should obey the rule that interest equals with the responsibility. Every individual both shares the rights and obligations of the class. Thirdly, public decisions should only be made based on the combination of the interest of the majority and minority. Last but not the least, a check-and-balance system should be built in the class in order to make sure that the authority of teacher and class leaders are confined within the proper limitation. |
