| Service-learning is a method to combine community service and courses through the corporation of schools and communities. It will meet the requirement of the community and help students to obtain the professional skills and problem solving ability through learning at the same time. Also, it provides students the theory and method and cultivates their social responsibilities. The service-learning originated from US and gradually developed during the procedure of solving American practical social problems and education reformation. Currently, the service-learning has been widely used in the global advanced education, which significantly promoted the development of the advanced education and the progress of the society. Generally, the study of service-learning in China is not sufficient, thus, the further study will provide a new thought and helpful reference.This study discussed the history and current situation of the US service-learning and concluded the experience and value, which further raised the revelation and thoughts for Chinese student educating work. The thesis had four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction including the theoretical and practical significance of the project and the research idea and methods. The study concluded the development coursed and experience of US service-learning by the analysis of literatures and cases. Thus, it will provide corresponding countermeasure for Chinese advance education practice.The second chapter contains budding stage of experience education theory revelation, initial stage of inspiration of national volunteer activity, then stepping to the stage of active development in advanced education system. It focused on the rise and development of service-learning in US advanced education from the aspects of historical evolution, the development of the concept, the basis of philosophy, the supporting system and the function mode.The third chapter concluded the experience and revelation of service-learning in American University based on its important influence on the optimization of education work and the related environment; the design of scientific processing; the excellent social environment and the wholesome security mechanism. The fourth chapter combined the experience of the service-learning in the US advanced education and current practical problems in Chinese advanced education. It provided specific measures to strengthen and improve Chinese advanced education from the aspects of the thoughts, forms, procedure management and support system for launching Chinese practical advanced education. |
