Ever since the concept of language sense is put forward by Professor Xia Mianzun,researches on language sense and the training of it has obtained more and moresignificance in the Chinese education field during the last20years both theoretically andpractically. Many experts on study of language sense make a considerable amount ofcontributions to the development of language sense in theories and practice. Thoughhaving some arguments, they share more agreements. Though the teaching of languagesense has been studied deeply and widely, the conduction of which is not efficient enoughto form a systematic and scientific operation setup due partly to the fact that the languagesense itself can’t be measured easily and the way to train it is hard to grasp. Therefore,further exploration on the nature and distinction will definitely be beneficial for promotingthe current reform of Chinese education, especially the practice of the teaching of languagesense which has gained more attention gradually.The main purpose of this paper is to make clearer the concept of language sense,analyze the strategies and approaches to train language sense through thorough studies onthe characteristics and influencing elements of language sense, and explore efficientoperation system of the development of language sense.Based on the domestic status quo of the teaching of language sense, this paper reflectson and points out the limitations of the current implement process of the teaching oflanguage sense in China, bring up people’s wrong ideas on language sense and the teachingof it, and discuss the basic requirements on teachers, students and teaching materialsdemanded by the current teaching of language sense. After referring to a large number ofrelated theories and important research results at home, the writer of this paper summarizespersonal ideas on the approaches and methods of the development of language sense,namely to follow the teaching process of entering texts first, and then forming integralperception, and next appreciating and tasting, and finally accumulating and transferring.Besides, this paper further discusses and explores how to conduct the teaching of languagesense with illustration of specific examples, hoping that the optimum of the teaching of language sense can be realized in the teaching of Chinese.
