Classical poetry is the crystallization of national spirit, it contains rich humanistic spiritintension, cultivate and improve students’ ability of appreciating poetry, so, to inherit Chineseculture is the obligatory duty of a secondary school teacher. But because of the time and spacegap and the classical poetry language’s abstraction and jumping, it is not an easy job for ahigh school student to accurately grasp the emotion of classical poetry. So when appreciatingancient poetry, we must know the writers, know their times and know the background of thepoetry, that is to say, understanding the world out of the background.In high school poetry teaching, lots of students lack of interest, they thought poetry isjust recite to deal with exam and not necessary to study the connotation. At the same time,some teacher pursuit high enrollment rate, only to emphasis particular sentence and ignore theappreciation of poetry itself, which lead to students answer the question carelessly. Highschool poetry teaching has little thing to do with appreciate, if you want to improve thestudents’ poetry appreciate to inherit Chinese culture better, we need to start from poetryunderstanding, which request the usage of background understanding to appreciate classicalpoetry.In teaching practice, teachers should leas students accumulate relevant knowledge, withexisting understanding, grasp the mode which is “analyze the poetry times”—“understand thepoetry writers”. Aim at the questions accrued in high school classical poetry appreciationteaching, design teaching detail, push teaching process, then improve teaching results andstudents’ application ability better.
