Theoretical research and practical exploration of the school-based curriculumdevelopment is a hot issue in the current China’s basic education curriculum reform.School-based curriculum development reflects that a school’s educational philosophyis to promote the school-building courses on the formation of school characteristicsand the culture of an effective way to study the development of school-basedcurriculum to provide a reference for the improvement of primary school-basedcurriculum development. In this study, taking Rongyuan Primary School (inChangsha, Hunan Province,P.R.C.,abbreviated as Rongyuan below) as an example, theauthor conducts a comprehensive study of school-based curriculum development. Inthis research, school teachers as the main body, the specific implementation of thenational curriculum and local curriculum, scientific assessment of the needs of ourstudents take full advantage of the local community and school curriculum resources,according to the schools of thought,the researchers can develop diversity in thefurther course study.The purpose of school-based curriculum development is to make every schoolcurriculum cultural construction, the implementation of school-based management,formed our school characteristics; to promote teachers’ school-based teaching andresearch.In the research above, teachers become researchers; school-based curriculumdevelopment as a link between the members of the community and experts, as well asschools close communication, expand the Home-School Co-operation to promote thesustainable development of the school. The significance of the school-basedcurriculum development mainly in two aspects: first, to make up for the lack ofnational curriculum and local curriculum, access to the world of student life; second,to reflect the characteristic of the development of school-based school, and topromote the overall development of students. The theoretical foundation of theschool-based curriculum development includes: constructivist view of theoreticalknowledge, the theory of micro-power, school-based management theory.For Rongyuan, requirements in the curriculum development: awareness of theimportance of school-based curriculum development is not excessively high;school-based curriculum development are more concentrated in non-academic courses;consciousness of curriculum resources, resource utilization; passive motivation of teachers in curriculum development, limited developing capabilities; school-basedcurriculum development lacks effective guidance, cooperation and support; morestandardized forms of school-based curriculum development without scientific logics;utilitarian education purely emphasizes the results and interests, restricting thedevelopment of school-based curriculum; the foundation for evaluation onschool-based curriculum development seems so weak.Rongyuan based Curriculum Development Countermeasures includes:sharpening awareness, emphasizing school-based curriculum development;strengthening school-based curriculum development theory; many ways to developschool-based curriculum resources; improving principal-centered curriculumleadership; strengthening school-based training, improving school-based curriculumthe enthusiasm and ability for development; establishing a rational managementmechanism to ensure the smooth progress of the development of school-basedcurriculum; strengthening exchanges and cooperation with other schools and researchinstitutes; establishing school-based curriculum development to adapt evaluationmechanisms.
