Chinese curriculum reform was constantly carried out since the foundation of New China. First-line teachers are consciously for the Chinese curriculum, explored in it, and achieved a lot. Among the teachers, Dou Guimei acts as the Chinese curriculum leader. She proposed the idea of Chinese teaching " three surpasses" and "theme-based teaching" in2001and2003respectively, which aroused strong repercussions.The writer’s school is a rural school in Jinding Town of Zhuhai which is merged by7small primary schools in2004. Most of the students are the children of migrant workers whose Chinese quality is not so good as the urban students. In order to improve the students’language quality, the teachers of this school chose the application of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching.This thesis stated the application of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching in this school.The introduction analyzes current situation of Dou Guimei’s teaching theory research, which mainly for analysis and research on the "three surpasses" and "theme-based teaching". But without the discussion of Combining the characteristics of its own school.Chapter One is about the reason of choosing this theme which is decided by the characteristics of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching. This chapter also stated the significance of the topic.Chapter Two discusses the precondition of the application of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching. First of all is the depth of preparation for the lessons. Secondly is the preparation of all the teachers of the same grade. Thirdly is refining the theme-based teaching which is suitable for the children of this school.Chapter Three describes the application of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching in classroom teaching. This part is mainly applied in themed-based teaching of learning Chinese characters, themed-based reading teaching as well as themed-based composition teaching. Meanwhile, themed-based reading teaching just started.The part of conclusion summarizes the application premise of Dou Guimei’s theme-based teaching as well as the significance of carrying out theme-based teaching. The application is suitable for the school’s characteristics. The significance is that the application improved the quality of children’s life.
