Liu Zeru, the famous Chinese marxist psychologist, people’s educator, proletarian revolutionist. He was always struggled in the forefront of education, devoted all his life to China’s proletarian education. He made great contribution to the development of Chinese education, especially to the development of higher normal education."Become teacher for advanced knowledge, be paragon for correctitude" is the most accurate evaluation to him, whether as a teacher, as a scholar, nor a leader, he had made a best model for people in normal school; in addition, he also put forward a series of distinctive and effective higher normal education thought and education management idea, which deserves studying and learning from. The development of Shaanxi normal university owned to the hard work of older generation of leaders and the teachers. The research about Liu ZeRu and the early development of Shaanxi normal university, is the exploration of history, and provide a reference for the future development of SNU as well.This research used literature method and historical inquiry method as the main research methods, with Liu ZeRu and early development of Shaanxi normal university as the core, studied education practice, education idea of Liu ZeRu and the early development of Shaanxi normal university fully and systematically. The emphasis is the connection of Liu ZeRu and the early creation, development of Shaanxi normal university, highlights the educational ideas of Liu ZeRu, especially his thoughts in higher normal education and educational management. This study mainly includes five parts:The first part:introduction. This part started from the research significance, research status, and then put forward the research methods, the feature and the innovation of this paper.The second part:introduced Liu ZeRu’s life and his activities of education. This part combed Liu ZeRu’s life and his activities of education from the four dimensions: his teachers’experiences, his academic life, his devotion to the proletarian revolution and his becoming an educator.The third part:explored and analyzed the background of the national education on the eve of liberation, and the establishment of Shaanxi normal university. Started from the problems existing in China’s higher education on the eve of liberation, and the development history of higher normal education, presented the background of national education; and then elaborated the establishment of Shaanxi normal university and its situation at that time.The fourth part is the core part of this paper. It mainly explored the measures and the educational thoughts in the period of Liu ZeRu’s administration. It comprehensively analyzed the efforts of Liu ZeRu when he was the headmaster of Shaanxi normal university, the changes about the early development of Shaanxi normal university which brought by him, including five aspects:infrastructure, the ideological and political, the construction of teachers, the quality of education and the scientific research. On this basis, I refined his thoughts of education and management to higher normal university. That is:Pay attention to normal education and love it, this is the basic requirements; follow rules, for the society as the development direction; love knowledge, strengthen the teachers as the fundamental guarantee; cling to the teaching, relate to the practice as the fundamental task; according to’double-hundred guiding principle’, with the mutual development as an effective way; pay attention to the idea, cultivate feelings as the basic guarantee.The fifth part is the sublimation of the research. It is an overall evaluation about him and his contribution to the early development of Shaanxi normal university. Combining with the video interview data, this research gives the conclusion from the following several aspects:integrity and approachable leader glamour; experienced, thinking deeply people’s educator charm; be a scholar who stick to the truth of academic; be a teacher who is diligent, frugal, helpful.
