Along with the wide application of computer in daily work and life, computer basic education is becoming more and more attention. But although Computer science and technology, ministry of education of higher school teaching steering committee has put forward the require and suggestion to Computer application foundation curriculum, the teaching of Computer application foundation curriculum is not ideal in higher vocational colleges of china.The reasons are for the long-term impact of the traditional teaching mode and students’differences.CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) was put forward to resolve the problem that the balance between theory and practice in engineering education by MIT. CDIO emphasizes that should cultivate the students’comprehensive ability and innovation ability, encourage students to active learning and experience, focus on the cultivation of communication ability and team cooperation consciousness. CDIO has got the recognition of international higher engineering education for it adapted to the social environment. The most striking feature of CDIO is with ability training as the standard.The author found that at present there are more than20countries in the world engineering education reform based on the model. Literature in domestic shows that the model not only has been applied in the teaching reform of engineering education, but also has been widely used in the teaching of the specific subjects. Through literature analysis, the researchers found that there are convergence in the training objectives and problems that the mode to solve between CDIO and computer foundation course. So which has brought opportunity to solve the difficulties that higher vocational college has facing in computer foundation course.Therefore, the author attempts to apply CDIO to teaching in computer foundation course of higher vocational college. The aim is to resolve the problem that the balance between theory and practice, and to cultivate students’autonomous learning ability, practical ability, team consciousness and communication ability and the comprehensive ability to solve the problem. The author introduces CDIO to the teaching of higher vocational computer basic courses so as to provide the reference for teaching and its reform of higher vocational college computer foundation course. First of all, the author summarized the central idea and character of CDIO on the basis of reading lots of literature, and analyzed the similarity between CDIO and computer application foundation course from the problem which to solve, training aim and course characteristic. The result is which is feasible that the CDIO concept applied in higher vocational college computer foundation course. Secondly, under the guidance of the CDIO concept, the author discusses the implement strategies, activities organized and teaching evaluation way of the application of CDIO concept of basic computer courses teaching in higher vocational colleges, which was combined the students’ characteristics of higher vocational college and the characteristics of higher vocational computer basic courses. Furthermore, the author carried on the teaching practice. The research has carried on the teaching practice for the object in Electronic commerce class1, class2of Shaanxi vocational&technical college. Finally, the author inspected the application effect based on student performance at ordinary times, student questionnaire, students work and comparative analysis from multiple perspectives.The purpose of this paper draws conclusions:Teaching practice that the application of CDIO shows that using the idea of "computer application foundation" in higher vocational colleges is helpful in improving students’practical skills, students’learning initiative and interpersonal communication ability, which is helpful to cultivate and improve the students’self-confidence, and can promote balancing development between the theory knowledge and practice ability. Therefore, the teaching effect is relatively better of the application of CDIO in the basic computer courses teaching in higher vocational schools.
