Vocational education has witnessed rapid development since great attention andpromotion have been aroused upon the implementation of The11thFive-Year Plan.Under the background that series of state macro-policies are pushing forward thevocational education, the situation of vocational students in the microcosmic society arenot as promising as it appears. Being in their adolescence with immature psychologicaldevelopment, they tend to develop negative self-recognitions and self-evaluations. Due tothe traditional concept which sets study performance as the only standard to assess astudent, vocationalstudents are readily labeled with inferior, unpromising, etc., Hence,diffidence and even inferiority complex have arisen among the vocational students. whichhave a huge adverse impact on their study and life.During this research, students with inferiority complex are selected into groups froma class of Shipailing Senior Vocational Middle School in Wuhan City. Based on theconcepts in strengths perspective, group activities are organized to interfere with thestudents’ inferiority complex from three angles, namely, self-recognition improvement,interpersonal relationship enhancement, and teamwork promotion.According to the assessment result on the effect of the group activities, theinterference of group work with the inferiority complex of the vocational students throughthe strengths perspective has achieved some positive effect. Strengths perspective has tosome extent changed the traditional opinion on the vocational students and also theassessment standard on them so that their advantages and potentials are more concerned.The group work, on the other hand, has enabled the vocational students to learn and growin the process of interacting and experience sharing during intriguing and enlighteningactivities, and provides references for the students to overcome their inferiority complex. |
