Kazakh people are nomads, whose musical heritage is closely correlated with various ceremonies of the Kazakh people. The Kazakh children get familiar with Kazakh music through all kinds of ceremonies. And these ceremonies help them blend in the traditional music. This is also a major approach for inheriting the folk music, and virtually helps them understand and appreciate Kazakh music and culture. With the social and economic development of our country, the social and ecological environment of Kazakh people have gradually changed, the traditional life style and culture also changed and the traditional music education for Kazakh children is influenced by diverse contemporary music culture, which poses effects on Kazakh music and culture. The focus of this study is to allow Kazakh children to better inherit and protect Kazakh music. Music culture is closely related with all aspects of people’s lives, for all types of folk music are created during people’s lives and labors. The folk music is the precious treasure of each nation.’bi-musicality’refers to the practice where people master their nation’s music culture and then understand another different nation’s music culture. Thus, these people can learn, master and understand the music from various perspective and all aspects, at the same time, they are able to appreciate the music more rationally and have’bi-musicality’In consideration of rich music cultural deposits in Kazakh peoples and their deep love for music as well as the importance of music in Kazakh people’s lives, this dissertation choose Kazakh children as the research and survey targets. Through the surveys and analyses on the status quo of Kazakh children’s music education, this dissertation objectively introduces the status quo of music education for Kazakh children and further analyzes the relating problems. On this basis, this dissertation puts forward better suggestions and solutions and implements the music education philosophy of’bi-musicality’in the music education for Kazakh children, with aim to promote and help develop children music education in Altay and its surrounding areas and even other regions in Xinjiang. At same time, this dissertation also makes some useful explorations into how to better inherit and protect traditional Kazakh music culture.The content of this essay is as follows:1. General introduction;2. The general situation, musical research background and meaning of bi-musicality;3. The investigation and analysis of the current situation of Kazak children’s music education in Altay City;4. The value of bi-musicality education in childhood;5. The solution and suggestion of the Kazak children’s music education under the concept of bi-musicality;6. Conclusion.
