Until now in the study of ethnic relation in mixed areas, we have gotten manyachievements domestically. Based on some of those achievements, I analysis theethnic relations in Qingyan town Guizhou Province with a theoretical respective ofsociology. I collect substantial materials about ethnic relations in Qingyan townthrough many field analyses, into which I introduce methods of historical documentsstudying, questionnaire survey, participant observation. With the analysis date, I studythe ethnic relations in Qingyan town from two respects, the analysis on the presentethnic relations, factors influencing them. In the analysis on the ethnic relations inQingyan town, referencing the related achievements by Ma Rong and other seniors, Iconduct a quantitative analysis on it,with “living situation”,“ethnic exchanges”,“ethnic marriage” as indexes. Through the quantitative analysis, I can conclude thatthe three ethnic relations in Qingyang town, respectively,“Han-Miao”,“Han-Buyi”,“Miao-Buyi” relation have such characteristics: obvious trends of mixed inhabitation, ethnic exchanges and ethnic intermarriage, weak sense of ethnic identity. In theanalysis on the factors influencing ethnic relations in Qingyan town, I try to discuss itin four chapters, history, economy, religion, political. On the base of the analysis onthe four chapters, I can conclude that first, the negative impacts of historical memoryon the ethnic relations becomes weaker and weaker, second, the development ofmarket economy creates opportunities for the ethnic exchanges among the local Han,Miao and Buyi, third, the localization of religion enhances the harmony among theethnic relations. Based on the analysis in the content, I can conclude that thecharacteristics of the local ethnic relations are as below: the ethnic exchanges amongdifferent groups frequently, historical memory and ethnic identity become weaker andweaker, relations between foreign religions and domestic religions becomeharmonious. So I can affirm that after hundreds of years’ development together, thehistorical memories and ethnic identities of the three local ethnic groups are fading. The ethnic relation will develop in a more harmonious avenue.
