Research On MSW Practice Supervision System In Interior Of China

The establishment of MSW system marks a new stage of development for social work, and it has a great significance in the development history of social work education. The goal is to cultivate applied senior talents specialized in social service and social management who are familiar with professional values of "human-oriented, helping people to help themselves, justice and equity ",social policies of our country, and have the strong ability of social service planning> executing、supervising、evaluating and researching in different areas.Social work practice is an important part of MSW education, even the supervision is an important element of social work practice, thus, professional level and standard would affect the quality of supervision directly. The current MSW system in mainland has just set up, and it still faces many problems and issues in the process of development.For a comprehensive understanding of current situation of social work practice supervision system in mainland, we interviewed a total of6supervisors from6colleges and schools among the east, medium and the west area in a form of semi-structure. The contents include supervision modes, supervision roles, supervision methods and skills, supervision conditions and qualities and the evaluation of current social work practice supervision system and so on. After the collection and an analysis of first interview data, we conclude that,in its true sense, the MSW practice supervision system has not set up,we have a further development and a long road to go.There is still a big gap for the development of social work practice supervision system between mainland and other western developed countries or HongKong areas. The reasons are, on one hand, the lacking of macro-environment of social work development, on the other hand, because of the lacking of resources of social work practice. Therefore,in order to improve the situation of social work practice supervision system, not only should the government take actions to support and advocate, but also those colleges should respect the independence of social work,pay more attention to train all the supervisors, and set up impeccable supervision evaluation and invigoration mechanism.As a MSW practice supervisor, they need to enhance profession level by themselves, clear the perfect roles they should play, explore more efficient supervision methods, and take HongKong’s development experience as reference.
