This article is engaged in the study of discussion about "step by step of regular script"referred in《The learning stages of calligraphy for the children》published by Feng Fang inMing dynasty.From the angle of edification of the calligraphy for the children, the article isfocused on the pedagogical thoughts of "big characters first, small ones second; form first,spirit second;force first,charm second" after the analysis of "step by step of regular script"issued by Feng Fang.Further more, the analysis is conducted on the pedagogical goal of theregular script from Feng Fang:"to select classic copybook; methods are reasonable;continuity of learning characters".The article makes a conclusion of "strength and richness arepursued for the regular script in big characters; being sparkish and discreet is underscored forthe regular script in medium characters; the look of leisure is emphasized for the regular scriptin small characters." after unraveling and assorting the patterns and styles of the posts fromFeng Fang.Through this research, rules and methods are being sought for the edification ofchildren’s calligraphy and expected to be of any use for reference in today’s pedagogicalpractice.
