The concept of moral sensitivity was first proposed by Neo-Kohlbergian to indicate initially psychological components of logic before moral action, involving the interaction between cognition and affection. This study investigated the development level of middle school students’moral sensitivity in a sample of800students, which was measured by Middle School Student Moral Sensitivity Questionnaires worked out by basic of Zheng Xinjun Dispositional Moral Sensitivity Questionnaires (2008). The relationships between value and moral sensitivity were also explored. The results were as follows:1. Middle School Student Moral Sensitivity Questionnaires had satisfactory reliability and validity.2. Generally speaking, the development level of middle school students’moral sensitivity was high. And with grade growth, moral sensitivity level gradually decreased. Meanwhile, females estimated their moral sensitivity higher than their male peers.3. Middle school students’ moral sensitivity was contextually dependent. Respondents estimated their moral sensitivity in justice-related moral contexts higher than in care-related moral contexts.4. There were significantly correlation relationships between value and moral sensitivity. The middle school students with regard for cognition, respect, adscription, affection, nonobjective feeling, society, justice, capacity, interpersonal relationship and attitude value types were higher on moral sensitivity, whereas the substance value type was negatively related to the sensitivity level. These results showed that the middle school stage was an important period in the development of individual moral sensitivity. And moral cognition critically influenced the development of moral sensitivity. Meanwhile, some value types were helpful to promote the development level of middle school students’moral sensitivity, such as cognition, respect, adscription, affection, nonobjective feeling, society, justice, capacity, interpersonal relationship and interpersonal attitude values.
