Urban and rural emergency response capacity refers to the emergency preparedness of local urban and rural residents towards possible emergency, it consists of two parts:first, whether the residents have emergency—coping related knowledge and skills, and second, whether the residents have needed personality and behavior characteristics to cope with emergency. Enhancing the public’s own ability to cope with emergencies is the most important thing to deal with various types of emergencies. In this study, by exploring the basic structure of the emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents. we investigated the status of the emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents in Zhejiang Province, and give some practical suggestions to our government.The study includes two parts:first, we explored the basic structure of the emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents, and then we investigated the status of the emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents of11areas in Zhejiang Province, and the characteristics of different demographic variables were analyzed and compared. Through analysis and discussion, the following conclusions were made:(1) This study established the basic structure of emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents. The questionnaire contains eight subscales:the general emergency response capacity scale, fire response capacity scale, earthquake response capacity scale, food poisoning response capacity scale, infectious disease response capacity scale, crime response capacity scale, typhoon response capacity scale, traffic accident response capacity scale. Confirmatory factor analysis supported this structure.(2) The study used internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability to test the reliability of the questionnaire. The total scale reliability is0.922, indicating that the questionnaire has acceptable reliability. The study used construct validity to test the validity of the questionnaire. The confirmatory factor analysis and correlations between each subscales and correlations between the subscales and the total scale showed that the questionnaire has good construct validity.(3)The study investigated the status of the emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents of11areas in Zhejiang Province, and found that emergency response capacity of urban and rural residents in Zhejiang Province have significant differences in gender, region, urban and rural, professional and educational background, and there was significant interaction between gender and urban-rural, for the general emergency response capacity, urban residents have more gender differences than rural residents; for the special emergency response capacity, urban residents have less gender differences than rural residents. |
