Non-Chinese children learning Mandarin Chinese have weak motivation to learn. In the process of teaching Mandarin to children, teaching should to be tailored to their learning style, and different from the education of adults. When teaching Mandarin to children, a teacher needs to not only think of the perspective of the children, but also make sure to keep their interest and gain their confidence. The practice of introducing children’s songs into the learning process can capture the interest of the young learners, and is also an effective way to improve the interpersonal skills of the students. Better results can be achieved if nursery rhymes are utilized when teaching Mandarin to young students; students can quickly grasp the language in this way. Also, the student will be more willing to accept this approach to learning.Today, South Korea’s Foreign Language Education curriculum goal is to improve students’ communication ability. Teaching methods focus not only on ensuring accuracy of students’ foreign language usage and correct grammar usage, but an emphasis is put on enabling students to communicate with fluency. This method is of great significance in foreign language teaching. The opportunities for improving students’ use of Mandarin through this method are endless.The objective of the study is to show that South Korea pupils can learn Mandarin and improve their communication competence through learning nursery rhymes. This research shows the effect of using rhymes in teaching programs for young Mandarin learners.Chapter Ⅰ describes the objectives and purpose of teaching Mandarin, and explains the necessity of utilizing.children’s songs to teach Mandarin to South Korean children. This chapter includes an overview of the preliminary studies on the topic.Chapter Ⅱ The object of this study is to determine and explore the Tearning habits of elementary school children. and this chapter will clarify the relationship of children’s songs and foreign language learning, and describe the communicative function and effectiveness of using children’s songs to teach a foreign language.Chapter Ⅲ will examine five current Mandarin language textbooks for children to determine which nursery rhymes should be selected and used to teach Mandarin to children.Chapter IV describes the theoretical background and the proper usage of the program. This program can be used in primary school, and this model is applied to actual classroom teaching. An evaluation of the program is included, and the observation of teachers and learners who took part in the evaluation is utilized to determine whether nursery rhymes and songs indeed play a positive role in improving the communicative competence of young learners.Finally, Chapter Ⅴ will describe the results, and compare the results to the existing teaching strategies for teaching Mandarin at primary schools.
