In the new historical period, to strengthen ideological and political education hasvery important significance. To strengthen the primacy of the military base and theideological and political education and to improve the ideological and politicalconsciousness of the officers and soldiers are greatly necessary, in order to maintain ahigh degree of centralization and unification of SFOR so as, to adapt to the call of thetimes for the country ’s economic construction and the development and stability ofsociety.The combat effectiveness of army mainly depends on the quality of people,weapons and the military establishment.To fulfil the task of building computerized armedforces and winning the information war, complete the response to multiple securitythreats and accomplish diverse military tasks, the key point is to continuously improvethe combat effectiveness of the armed forces. The important factor is the deological andpolitical education,which is indispensable to guarantee the combat effectiveness. Thusthe army ’s ideological and political education is essential as well as significant. Atpresent, China has great progress in ideological and political education work in themilitary, but there are still some problems on the status of the current ideological andpolitical education according to the survey and recommendations from some experts andscholars,who claim that it’s urgent to improve the ideological and political education ofarmy.This thesis is divided into five chapters, including the questions, the analysis ofproblems and the problem-solving ideas. The first chapter introduces the purpose andsignificance of the topic for a brief exposition and summarizes the research situation ofideological and political education; the second chapter describes the basic ideologicaland political education. The third chapter analyzes the relationship between the party andthe army in details; the fourth chapter presents how to establish and perfect themechanism of ideological and political education; the fifth chapter describes the status ofideological and political education of soldiers, followed by analysis of the causes the causes and finally the thesis proposes countermeasures to strengthen ideological andpolitical education of military.
