The supervisory system in the Chinese feudal society evolves to a full-fledgedsystem with strict operation and management in the Tang Dynasty after more than2,000years of exploration and modification by emperors of previous dynasties and it hasbecome a treasure in the Chinese cultural relics. Today, both the general public and thehigh level officials in the Communist Party of China agree that corruption has become acritical problem and only by eradicate the root causes can we dissolve conflicts andrebuilt authority from the most fundamental level.In this paper, the author studies the supervisory system in the Tang Dynasty takingthe social and historical environment into consideration so as to find out the historicalreasons for the advent of this system and its inner principles of development. From thechanges of the system, the author analyzes its political meaning underneath and revealsits value and the system model on the bases of modern management logic. Therewith,the author provides references and suggestions for building up a supervision systemcombining punishment mechanism, prevention mechanism, and assurance mechanismthat can combat corruption effectively.
