| Freehand Style Bird-and-flowering Painting is an important branch of Chinese traditional art.As prominent figures in Yunnan Freehand Bird-and-flower Painting, Yuan Xiaocen and WangJinyuan have both contributed greatly to its development. Yuan is widely known as the master infreehand-style peacock painting, which has immensely influenced the Chinese art community;whereas Wang is recognized for his unique style in Bird-and-flower painting.By integrating their own unique style with that of traditional Chinese painting, Wang and Yuanhave establish their own approaches to artistic innovation. This study aims to evaluate Wang andYuan’s work through their life experience, artistic style and themes. The differences between theirworks will also be discussed. Their aesthetic conceptions are in accordance with the time, and isclosely associated with the artists’ state of mind, temperament and artistic pursuit. The objective ofthis study is to inspire researchers of Freehand Style Bird-and-flowering Painting by analyzing andrevealing the characteristics and development of their style. |
