Yuan Xiaocen Freehand Bird Study

The history of flower-and-bird paintings can trace to the age of late Tang Dynasty. From time of Five Dynasties when Xu Xi initiated the literati flower-and-bird painting, this kind of painting has been handed down and changed until now. Yuan Xiaocen is one of Chinese contemporary flower-and-bird painting painters, and his paintings about peacock are most representative and influential works. Based on the creation principle of"Now, Here and My heart", Yuan Xiaocen'style of paintings went away from Linnan School gradually in 1970s, and formed some particular things of his own. It makes himself a unique painter in the Chinese painting world. In my dissertation, I research and explore Yuan Xiaocen's flower-and-bird paintings by means of analyzing some respects such as origin, style, skills and idea of them. My aim is to succeed his soul of painting, and I hope it will be good at my study in painting later.
