"The Sun Shines Over The" Version Research

After the Yan’an Literature and Art Forum in1942, the novel "The sun shines over the Sangkan River" was written earlier against the backdrop of the land reform in North China in the early time of liberation revolution by Ding Ling who was inspired by the self experience of taking part in the most basic level land reforms and the mass struggles. As only one lengthy novel finished by Ding, it has won the widespread attention since it was published in1948. The second place in Stalin Literary Prize helped it to be a well-know "Red Classic" which has been translated into the languages of Russian, Japanese, Korean, Britain, Germany, Brazil, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Czech, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Mongolia, Uygur, Kazak etc for the international readers. The discussion here relies on its major Chinese versions.It artistically features the unprecedented historic changes in China rural regions and a number of vivid figures have been created. Also it authentically reflects the subtlety of interpersonal relationships and complexity of the classes’struggles in land reforms of the countryside and highlights the enormous changes in people’s minds and hearts caused by the land reform. The main purpose of this article is about to reveal the tiny differences among the Chinese versions, the authors’motivation for modification and the effects. It consists of three parts.The first part:a systematic review and present about the novel’s writing, publishing, modifying and republishing. In this part, I will use a graphic to show the basic overviews and connections of the major Chinese versions clearly in order to stress the research emphasis and the core of discourse out.The second part:Through the comparison of the text and the paratext in the early publishing, it will be set the argument and the reference that are one of the key researches.The third part:This part includes the chapters three and four of this thesis. In chapter three, the features of the paratexts of the major Chinese versions are studied thoroughly, especially the prudent analysis of the chapter changes in the novel which opens the curtain of chapter four. The emphasis and the core of this article are also included, they are, the systematic assortment, analysis, discussion and assessment of the texts of major Chinese versions related to the characters, pure languages so as to get the comprehensive, objective and rational criticism and comprehension of the major versions and its insight views.
