For many Chinese language foreign learners, experience of the targetlanguage has traditionally been limited to opportunities created by theteacher in the classroom, drawing on such resources as textbooks, CDsand videos. In the21stCentury, the internet has become a new medium ofcommunication that is shaping both the processes and the products ofcommunication. Because computers have opened up new opportunitiesfor communication between both learners and teachers and amongChinese language users themselves, many teachers see great potential incomputer-mediated Chinese teaching and learning.The present article makes a survey and research on Chineselanguage network learners, online courses of Chinese language as secondlanguage and a few typical websites of Chinese courses and learningresources. Summarizes the advantages and limitations of network-basedChinese language teaching and learning, then makes improvementsuggestions. In the meantime, the article sums up the basic elements ofChinese online courses building, the principles of network-based Chineselanguage courses and courseware designing as well. At the end, the articleoffers a conception of interactive mode between Chinese languagelearners and teachers in online virtual classes. |
