Miao Nationality, widely distributed in Hunan, Guizhou Yunnan, Sichuan and Guangxi and other places, is one of Chinese minority nationalities with long history and big population. Miao people has a character of inhabiting together with other nationalities in a large area but they living in their own community. Generally, Miao Language has three dialect areas:Xiangxi dialect area, Qiandong dialect area and the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou dialect area. Every area has its own uniqueness. Xuyong County of Sichuan Province located in the junction of Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou province is known as the "The gate of Southern Sichuan" in the history. Xuyong County is one of the most Miao populated counties in Sichuan Province, which is called "Ch’uan Nan Miao". Miao people can be divided into Qing Miao, Gao Shan Miao, Huang Miao and Ba Miao according to their dresses, languages and customs and etc,. Most of them are concentrated in Jian Cao, He Le and Bai La Miao towns, and some are also scattered in twelve other towns such as Chi’shui, Moni, Macheng, Fenshui, Luobu and so on.Miao Nationality has over one hundreds festivals. The traditional festivals are a comprehensive cultural phenomenon, which are almost the comprehensive reflection of Miao people’s politics, economy, production, life, religion, culture, arts, social association and ethnic psychology. Although most of the local Miao people and other nationalities live together, their traditional culture still maintains a strong vitality due to their remote residence and backward economic conditions and other factors, among which music culture is one of the most important symbols to show the Miao customs."Cai’shan " Festival is also called "Hua’shan ","Tiao’hua","Cai’hua","Tiao’chang"and so on, which is prevalent in western dialect area in Qian Xi’bei、 Ch’uan Nan and Dian Dong’bei dialect areas. On that day, Miao peope in Wu’meng Mountain worship the holly poly and show their gratitude to the mount-god.In today’s globalized context, the traditional festival "Cai’shan" plays a very important role in the protection and heritage of the folk music culture. The government organizations and the music-society organizations maintain a benign and efficient interaction in the process of holiday construction. Cai’shan Festival is one of the few festivals where the local Miao people keep their ethnic identities and is an important way to. At the same time, to publicize the festival can make outside world understand and respect Miao’s festivals and customs. And this can promote harmonious evolvement between themselves and other ethnic minorities.The folk music style of Ba’miao people in Luo’bu Town in Xuyong County is greatly different from that of the local Yi, Han and Tujia minority nationalities. Meanwhile, the music of the Ch’uan Nan Miao has blood relationship with the music of the Qian Xi’bei Miao. However, it also develops a new tradition in the new environment. This is also a case in point on a pattern of the multi integration of the Chinese culture. Through the study of the music activities of Cai’shan Festival, this article discusses San’tai village of Luo’bu Town in Xuyong County, Sichuan Province. Takes Ba’miao’s Cai’shan festival as a microscopic case and fully discovers its music activities, simultaneously try to interpret the relationships between music and its cultural and ecological environment.This article is divided into:The Introduction It illuminates the object of this article and the reasons of the topic study. Afterwards, it discusses the research status, the significance of the study and the fieldwork process, etc. The first chapter introduces the historical and cultural overview of San Tai Village in Luo Bu Town in Xu Yong County and by taking "Cai’shan" Festival music activities as a case describes the voice activity profiles in detail.The second chapter researches the characteristics of music sound and images which are collected and recorded on multi-level relating to the classification of festive music activities, musical structure, rhythm and beat, musical texture, core tone, relevant characteristics of folk songs and instrumental music, etc.The third chapter explains the relationship between the music organization and the government and on the basis of the ecological and cultural environment, investigates and studies the ecological character of the folk music and its social function.
