Chinese Character has been the language which Koreans have used for a long time. Koreans have had used and learned Chinese Character from China’s Han dynasty. At that time, Koreans didn’t have their own language, they bor-rowed Chinese Character and began to use it as if it is their own. Since the cultural relationship between Korea and China has been built strongly, Korea has been influenced by China in economical, political, linguistic, and historical aspects. Chinese Character of Korea, has been born from China, therefore Chinese Character has been blended in Korean language in many ways. Chinese character occupies more than60%of Korean language and plays very important roles in it.In this thesis, I have studied the differences and sameness between Korean Chinese Character and Chinese character of China. I have found so many differ-ences and sameness between them and classified them as5forms:same form-same definition, same form-similar definition, same form-different definition, different form-same definition, different form-similar definition. This study will contribute to how we characterize the history of two differ-ent uses of Chinese character and what is the ongoing problems in it.This thesis can be classified as four chanters.First chapter deals with the methods and scope of this thesis and the pre-studied researches.Second chapter describes the definition, history, origins and the peculiarity of Korean Chinese character. Third chapter writes about the criteria which compares the words of HSK5class vocabularyFourth chapter classifies the words of HSK5-class vocabulary as5ways: same form-same definition, same form-similar definition, same form-different definition, different form-same definition, different form-similar definition. Fifth chapter is the conclusion.Chinese character which occupies60%of Korean language has very useful for both Koreans who want to learn Chinese character and Chinese who want to learn Korean language. However, it has also complicated aspects. Because, the form and character of Korean Chinese character is same as that of China, many people wrongly assume that their meanings are also same. However, there are many words which are same form-different definition or same-form-different use. This is because the language has been built up as peculiar one according to the social and cultural change. I hope this thesis will help those who study Chinese character understand the accurate meanings and forms of it and develop more useful language skill. I also wish that this thesis will be used as a guide book for Korean-Chinese language exchange.
