Objective:To explore and discuss ancient and modern changed thinking which is reflected by similarities and differences of acupoints features of ancient and modern acupuncture treatment of depressive disorders. So then to provide theoretical support for medical and clinical research ideas.Methods:First, we searched Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Chongqing VIP (VIP) and Chinese Medicine Database to systematically find the ancient and modern acupuncture treatment of depression content by using the manual and retrieval method of combining computer. Secondly, we manually screen proper papers of subject according to the inclusive and exclusive criteria. And then we analyze the obtained data by using Microsoft Excel database.Results:On the basis of data which is collected, collated ancient and modern literatures of acupuncture treatment of depressive disorders, we analyze the similarities and differences between the characteristics of ancient and modern acupuncture treatment of depressive disorders as follows:The point that specific point attach great importance to the remedy of depressive disorder reachs a consensus.The differences reflected in the common points, the distribution of acupoints in fourteen meridians, the distribution of acupoints in the different parts of the body as well as acupuncture method of operation.The common acupoints when ancient physicians treat depressive disorders is Daling, Hsinshu and Baihui acupoint, while most of modern physicians select Baihui, Yintang, San yin jiao and Shenmen.Ancient physicians use the liver meridian of foot Jueyin,urinary bladder meridian of foot Taiyang and Gall Bladder Channel of Foot-Shaoyang as the primary meridians when treat depressive disorder. Modern mediciner is focused selection of governor meridian, Ren channel and urinary bladder meridian of foot Taiyang.Ancient physicians regularly choose acupoint whice is in the four limbs, while modern physicians select more acupoint on the head and the neck than ancient physicians’. Conclusion:The issue sums up the characteristics of ancient and modern acupuncture treatment of depression, and analyze thinking change of treatment of depression by compare the similarities and differences between the characteristics of ancient and modern acupuncture treatment of depressive disorders.We found the obvious difference is that modern medicine doctors use more governor meridian acupoints than ancient mediciner and try to explore the possible reasons and theory of this difference.
