Research Background:Pulmonary fibrosis is one of the interstitial diseases that first proposed by Hamman Rich in1944, due to the influence of factors like environment, pulmonary fibrosis disease is found among more and more people. The etiology of pulmonary fibrosis is very complex, and the pathogenesis of it remains to be further investigated. It has become an intractable lung disease, so far the prognosis is poor, most sufferer die during the advanced period because of respiratory failure. In the process of its occurrence and growth, cough is the most common symptom and it is difficult to relieve because the symptom usually lasts for a long time and leads to delayed healing and treatment in result. Early cough symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis patients mostly includes dry cough without sputum or less sputum, the sputum is always sticky and difficult to spit, while the advanced cough symptoms mostly includes weak cough sound, large amount of frothy sputum, along with other symptoms such as dyspnea, asthma and suffocation. In clinical therapy, oxygen treatment is advocated by western medicine, which mostly gives priority to hormone therapy, along with several other methods such as other immunosuppressive drugs, antioxidant drugs, new molecular targeted therapy is also used. However, the method has many side effects, and the clinical compliance of patient is poor. In the developing process of Chinese medicine treatment, based on long-term clinical practice and painstaking research, Professor Zhou Pingan, a famous traditional Chinese Medical doctor, created Fei Bi Tang as the treatment for pulmonary fibrosis, which achieved satisfactory clinical efficacy. In this context, this study aims to evaluate the intervention effect of Fei Bi Tang on the cough of lung pulmonary fibrosis. This research was conduacted in order to evaluate the Fei Bi Tang’s Interventional effect on pulmonary fibrosis cough as well as the life quality of patients.Research Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Fei Bi Tang treatment on pulmonary fibrosis cough.Materials and Methods:According to western diagnostic standards and traditional Chinese Medical syndrome diagnosis standards,31cases were collected in this research,3months as a course of treatment. comprehensive efficacy, TCM syndromes, Physical examination-related signs and efficacy, cough VAS score, cough severity degree score, Leicester Cough Questionnaire as well as chronic cough score were observed for these31cases to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Fei Bi Tang treatment on pulmonary fibrosis cough from an overall pespective.Results:1Evaluation results of comprehensive evaluationThere are31cases of pulmonary fibrosis patients in total, of which17males and14females, including22patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and9patients with secondary pulmonary fibrosis, the average age is (73.39±7.01) years old, average duration is (3.14±2.36) years. According to Watter’s comprehensive score evaluation standards, the patients’ symptoms before treatment and after treatment, as well as the comprehensive efficacy score for treatment showed that among the31cases,9were described as having marked improvement,7obvious progress cases,13stable cases and2ineffective cases after3months’ treatment, the total efficiency is93.5%.2Evaluation results of TCM SyndromesAccording to grading scores of quantitative classification for the clinical symptoms in Syndromes Collection Table, comprehensive efficacy results of TCM syndrome revealed that7cases are markedly effective, effective in13cases,11cases are invalid, the total efficiency is64.5%.3Evaluation results of Main Clinical SymptomsAccording to statistical results, obvious effects showed in three main clinical symptoms of cough, expectoration, dyspnea changed, especially for aspects like cough degree, cough intensity, cough properties, duration of cough, phlegm quantity, severity of dyspnea, significant improvements was found after treatment when compared with before treatment.4Evaluation results of Minor Clinical SymptomsMeanwhile, changes in minor clinical symptoms like twheezing, shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, sweating situation, dizziness, cold extremities, colds, evil wind, the above symptoms improved significantly compared with conditions before treatment.5Efficacy results of physical and chemical examination as well as related signsAccording to the results of statistical analysis, significant improvements were observed in patients’tongue, pulse, respiratory rate and arterial oxygen, no significant changes in other signs, physical examinations and chemical examinations.6Evaluation of severity in the main symptom cough and the impact of cough on life qualityBased on evaluating of severity in the main symptom cough and the impact of cough on life quality, the results showed that after treatment of Fei Bi Tang, patients’ claimed that overall improved performance appear in cough symptom and life quality, cough severity decreased significantly, patients with cough symptoms were relieved.7Safety Evaluation results of the drugNo adverse reactions appear during and after the treatment.
