ObjectiveThe primary observation of the abdomen vibration therapy in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern.Methodology1. Research papersResearch papers on the causes of primary dysmenorrhea in the western medical field in the recent years and the knowledge from traditional Chinese medicine are summarized. A summary of research done in recent years in treatment of dysmenorrhea using the common massage techniques.2. Clinical research31female patients, who fulfilled the requirement, were randomly chosen from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Dongfang Hospital Tuina department, and each individual sample data was acquired by comparing before and after treatment. Patients were treated1week before menstruation on alternate days for a total of3treatments, continuously for3menstrual cycles. Patients are required to fill in a form before receiving the treatment and after the3treatments per menstrual cycle. A total of4forms were filled up and the scores for VAS, time of menstrual pain, pain intensity and Chinese medicine pattern differentiation were recorded. The scores, recorded after treatment for each of the3menstrual cycles, were compared with the score prior to receiving treatment and were tabulated using statistical methods to determine the efficiency of the treatment.3. ResultsA test of normality is conducted for the scores comparison. Non-parametric test and t-square test were further conducted based on the results to obtain the average scores to check for any significant difference.Based on patients’sense of pain, symptoms, pain intensity and changes in Chinese medicine pattern differentiation of patients suffering from primary dysmenorrhea, the conclusion is as follows:1. There are significant changes in patients’sense of pain using abdomen vibration therapy in the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern. There is significant difference after3months of treatment (P=0.00<0.05). Out of31patients,3of them showed good improvement,26of them showed effective improvement,2of them showed no improvement and no one shows deteriorating condition, with an effective rate of93.5%.2. There are significant changes in symptoms using abdomen vibration therapy in the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern. There is significant difference after3months of treatment (P=0.00<0.05). Out of31patients,1of them showed great improvement,10of them showed good improvement,15of them showed effective improvement,5of them showed no improvement and2patients have deteriorating condition, with an effective rate of83.9%.3. There are significant changes in pain intensity using abdomen vibration therapy in the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern. There is significant difference after3months of treatment (P=0.00<0.05). Out of31patients,1of them showed great improvement,12of them showed good improvement,13of them showed effective improvement,5of them showed no improvement and1patients have deteriorating condition, with an effective rate of83.9%.4. There are significant changes in changes in Chinese medicine pattern differentiation using abdomen vibration therapy in the treatment of patients with primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern. There is significant difference after3months of treatment (P=0.00<0.05). Out of31patients,2of them showed good improvement,23of them showed effective improvement,6of them showed no improvement and no one shows deteriorating condition, with an effective rate of80.6%5. A minority of the patients showed increase in pain intensity when they first received abdomen vibration therapy treatment. As the number of treatments received increases, the pain intensity decreases and majority of the patients show that the pain intensity decreases after the3treatments.ConclusionIn this experiment, we concluded that the abdomen vibration therapy is effective in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea cold congestion blood stasis pattern, with an effective rate above80%. In addition, increase in transient pain intensity is observed in some patients in the initial stage when they are first exposed to the abdomen vibration therapy and this will provide insight to further research in the future.
