| In this paper, with "Qingyun Eco-art Park" which was built by the author with years of efforts as an example, coupled with Beijing’s798Art Zone and Shanghai’s M50Art Zone, we explore how modern arts are used in construction of modern ecological gardens and the significance and development prospects of modern eco-art gardens. The development of gardens, especially the development of Chinese gardens, has been closely related to the art of painting since the ancient times. Garden art offers rich source materials for artistic creation, while colors, modeling, layout and other artistic elements also provide guidance for the construction of gardens. Ancient royal gardens and aristocratic gardens served only a handful of royal and aristocratic people, while modern gardens serve more people. With such shift of the role of gardens, the structures, styles and contents of gardens have also changed. In the meanwhile, modern arts come in richer forms beyond the past landscapes, portraits and sculptures simply seeking truth and beauty after experiencing the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Art Nouveau and the Neorealism. Many different forms of artistic creation have appeared, including collage, structure and repetition etc. In addition to diversified forms of recreation, modern arts place a high value on aesthetic effect and innovation and uniqueness of artistic works. The change of forms of garden and the development of art provide more possibilities for the combination of these two art form. |
